Let me start off by reporting that Grant is just so happy lately. He smiles at EVERYTHING. He's even begun laughing. We think he did it a teensy bit for the first time last weekend, but today he's definitely giggling. What did we do to make him laugh? Well, apparently, telling him about his poopy diapers is hilarious! Who knew?
And as of last night, he has a new bed. Up to this point, Grant has slept pretty snuggly in a bassinet on wheels, making it easy to roll up to the side of the bed, where I could keep one eye open and on him all night. Since he started sleeping through the night (yes, THROUGH the night!) at 6 weeks, the bassinet right next to me has been less necessary. The only time he doesn't sleep through the night is when he's really sick and coughing a lot. And let's face it, he's been doing that a lot lately. Surprisingly though, his illnesses haven't affected his sleep too much.
Almost 2 weeks ago, we broke out the baby monitor and attempted to put him in his crib in his room across the house. This was the night that he started getting sick this last time, so he was up a lot that night, meaning I was up a lot that night. We didn't even make it through the night before he was back in the bassinet next to the bed. I'm ready to try the crib again, but it just isn't good to start that until he's 100% better from his latest cold/allergies/asthma/death march. At any rate, he's officially outgrown the bassinet. His little chubby legs kick the end of it when he's sleeping in it. So, we finally moved him up to the pack and play. It is parked at the foot of our bed and is much roomier. This is just a teensy bit closer to having him in his own room. Ok, so it's not that much closer. But, hey, baby steps and all that. At least it is forcing me to get out of bed to tend to him if needed.
So tonight, I snapped some pics after putting him to bed because I couldn't resist. He's so sweet when he's sleeping. I just want to pinch his cheeks!
