Grant rolled over for the first time!

First things first...  Grant rolled over for the first time Monday night!  This is a huge milestone.  I think he was just trying to get at his pacifier that had fallen out of his mouth.  I woke up to his grunting and thought what on earth is that kid doing? And there he was, on his tummy and hating it!  I rolled him back over and he went right back to sleep.  Wash, rinse, repeat.  Hopefully he'll learn quickly how to roll back over to his back.  I am getting no sleep!

A few weeks ago, Stephanie with Dhalias and Daisies Designs Photography came over to the house to try and get some pics of Grant.  Once again, he was uncooperative.  We only got a few good shots.  We'll try again though. Stephanie is a personal friend and has so much patience with these babies.  If you're local, check her out.  She does some really amazing things with photos and babies!

We're late on updates!

We went to Arkansas and Missouri and got a few pictures, but not a lot.  The focus was more on spending time with family, and I didn’t break out my camera too much.

However, here’s one of Grant in Bass Pro Shops in Springfield.  He enjoyed seeing the stuffed animals and fish.

Here is Grant meeting his second cousin for the first time.  He's almost exactly one year younger than his cousin.  Love the pacifier mouths.  :)

Smiley boy!

We spent the past weekend traveling to Arkansas and Missouri.  Rob's grandparents and aunt/uncle/cousin live in Arkansas, and his mom lives in Missouri.  On Friday, we drove to Arkansas and Grant did great in the car.  We got to visit with all the family on Friday night and Saturday afternoon over delicious meals.  Then on Saturday afternoon, we drove to Missouri to visit with Rob's mother.  She was meeting Grant for the first time.  We got tons of great photos, but I still need to download them from my camera.  We stayed in Missouri until Monday morning, then drove straight back to Texas.  It was a long car-ride for Grant (more than 8 hours in his car seat!), but he did really great again.  We only had one stop for food on the way back, in order to eat and let Grant have some time to stretch.  It's really hard confining a baby to a seat all day.

I can't wait to share pics from that trip, but for now, here are some that were emailed to me by Grant's teacher Ana.  These are from yesterday.

More smiles from school!

Reading with Grandpa

A lazy Saturday afternoon, reading a book with Grandpa.

Thanks, Ana!

Grant's teacher Ana took a TON of great photos of our little guy at school and sent them to us.  It was so nice of her!  Grant clearly enjoys his time at school, as can be seen in these adorable photos.

It almost looks like he has a moustache here with his name on his pacifier!

Ana said she got a pic of him holding his bottle, and here it is.  Our little boy is growing so fast.

Love, love, love this smile!

Investigating a rattle here.

This was part of an art project that Ana was starting on with Grant.

All smiles!

Cute baby!

I just love seeing him this happy.  These pictures definitely make me feel like we made the right decision on his daycare.  He is so happy and his teachers are so good to him.

Silly Pictures

Here are a few outtakes from various activities...

This was during/after a feeding.  Grant was all smiles and giggles.  Again, excuse the sock-hands!

During burping.  Daddy was running the camera.

After eating, it was time for changing.  Grant is making the funniest face here.

Happy baby.

Slackers!

We are two days behind in posting a Daily Grant!  Well, how about a cute picture of Grant's latest trick - weaseling out of his swaddle.  We have been trying to put him to bed without the swaddle, which is proving to be very successful, but if/when he wakes in the middle of the night ready to party, the swaddle comes in very handy for calming him down and getting him back to sleep.  Well, that trick may be out the window now, since he seems to be able to unfasten the velcro on the bottom of the sack freeing his legs, and worm his way out of the top.  Still, he's pretty cute in the process.

4 Months Already!

Grant turned 4 months old on Wednesday, and had his 4-month appointment yesterday.  Here are a few of his stats:

16 pounds 6 ounces (75-90%)
25.75” long (75-90%0
41cm head circumference (25%0

He’s a pretty happy baby for the most part.  When he’s awake, he likes to be held (what baby doesn’t?), watch Mickey Mouse cartoons (I know, horrible!), and be played with.  He’s happiest when we interact with him – tickling, wiggling his feet and legs, and talking to him in silly voices.

He got a new medication for his nebulizer when we were at his 4-month appointment.  The pediatrician didn’t like the way his breathing still sounded, because he’s still congested, and gave us a steroid for the nebulizer.  So, now we’re on to medication #6.  He also said that the allergist appointment will hopefully tell us more about what we can do.

The doctor said he looked really good and healthy.   Grant got two painful shots, but cried very briefly.  Although, for the rest of the day, he wouldn’t let me lay him down without throwing a giant fit – not for changing, not for napping, etc.  He normally never acts that way.  I think he thought he was going to get more shots every time he was placed on his back.  I do not like the fact that the nurses want me to hold him down while they do the shots.  Surely that causes some kind of temporary trust issues.  At any rate, Grant is feeling fine this morning and has seemed to forget the traumatic event already.

Today’s picture is from Wednesday April 6th, when he turned 4 months old.  Enjoy!

Art at school

The teachers in Grant’s class are very good about involving the babies in all kinds of activities, which we love.  I always hoped that we’d find a daycare that would do more than just let the babies lie around all day, and we did.  They do story-time, mat play, and lots of art!  This picture shows his teachers making foot-prints for an art project where his footprints are the leaves of a flower, and his handprints are the petals.  They hung them on the wall, and they are so cute!

And yes, the scratch on his head is where he is still scratching himself!  This boy simply cannot be trusted with his own hands!

This afternoon, we have Grant’s 4-month check-up and (gasp!) shots.  L  Mommy is not looking forward to it.  I’ll report back tomorrow on how it went.

Daycare Pics!

This picture is so cute!  Grant’s teachers take pictures of him and the rest of the babies pretty regularly.  Today, one of the directors emailed me several of Grant.  Looks like he enjoys his school.  J

Grant's New Trick

Grant learned a new trick!  He loves to rock his car seat, and we're all for it if it keeps him entertained.  Please don't panic.  Although you can't see it in the video, the base of his seat is not as close to the edge of the island as it looks!  What's funny is when he tries to do this in the car when the seat is attached to the base and can't move.

Grant slept so well last night, finally.  He went to bed at 10:00 and didn't wake up until 6:00!  We stopped swaddling him since the nights are getting warmer, and he doesn't seem to have a problem going to sleep because of it.  I try to save the swaddle for my middle-of-the-night bag-of-tricks in case he wakes up at 2:00am ready to party.  He's been doing that a lot lately.  Growth spurt?

Also, happy four-month birthday, little guy!

Hiccups!

Going back quite a bit...  This is a video from the day Grant was born.  When we were totally exhausted and finally got to try and sleep that first night in the hospital, Grant surprised us with the cutest hiccups ever.  So, enjoy this video of a very new little Grant.

Let's go shopping!

Grant has been happy pretty much all weekend.  He's feeling much better these days, although he's still coughing and congested.  I guess there may be something to be said for it being allergy season and him possibly suffering from it.  We'll find out when we visit the allergist on the 12th.  In the meantime, we're still nebulizing, which we have coined his "happy gas", since he's all smiles and giggles after he has a treatment.

Today we ran some errands.  We tell Grant this is "shopping", i.e. Costco, grocery store, etc.  Anyway, here he is being particularly cute in his car seat right before we were about to head out the door to go shopping.  These were taken with Rob's phone.  I have other pictures that we took this weekend on the regular camera, but I left my camera cable at work, so those will have to wait until next week.

On our way to school!

Grant has been sticking his tongue out - a lot.  Not sure why, but it's what he does almost every time he smiles now.  He's also recognizing faces now.  When I pick him up from daycare (we call it school to him because I believe it will be easier for him to learn the name) in the afternoons, he lights up with a great big smile as soon as he sees me.  That is, if he's awake.  If I wake him up, then he's cranky and you'd think his world was ending.  Anyway, when we break out the camera, the smiles usually go away.  He's too interested in analyzing what we're doing to remember what was making him smile just moments before.  But this morning, I captured a little bit of a smile when we were getting ready to go out the door.

And for comparison sake, this was Grant when he was 4 days old in the same car seat!
