Grant's 2 Year Stats!

Grant went to the doctor for his 2-year well-baby visit on Friday, December 14th, only about a week late!

His stats are:

37.5" tall - 99th percentile, OH WOW!  He grew 5.5 inches in 9 months!
31.13 pounds - 84th percentile
19.9" head circumference - 72nd percentile

No wonder his pants are all too short!  Poor kid can't wear 2Ts because they are too big around his waist, but 24mo sizes look like we're too neglectful to buy him properly fitting pants!

He patiently waited for Dr. Mix while perusing a couple of books about, what else, trucks.  This kid is obsessed with trucks.

When Dr. Mix came in, he said "Dr. Mix!"  We had to put the book down in order to get checked out, and that was his undoing.  He got two vaccines - a booster and the flu mist.  He also got his blood taken from one of his tiny fingers, and it broke my heart when they poked him.  But he was tough.  As soon as all the shots and ugliness was over, he sobbed into my shoulder, saying, "boooooook", while pointing down to where the truck book was on the floor.  Oh kid.

Pics With Teddy

Rob's mother sent Grant a Christmas teddy bear for his birthday, and Grant has really taken to carrying it around.  He calls it "Teddy", and loves to hand it to you, only to demand it back saying, "MY TEDDY!!!"

We snagged a few pictures of him with Teddy on Saturday.

Sweet boy...

Daddy's making him laugh here.

And here...

And then, the photo session was over.  Ha.

Climbing!

Grant loves to climb on all the furniture now. Much to my chagrin.

A Quick Arkansas Trip...

Grant and cousin Ares had a wonderful time riding Grandpa's "horses"!

Happy Birthday, Baby Boy!

Dear Grant,

Wow.  You are TWO.  TWO YEARS OLD.  Sometimes, that just doesn't seem possible.  And other times, we can't even remember what life was like without you.

Did I ever really have a life before you?  I certainly never knew joy in the same way.  And yet, it feels so natural, like you were a part of us all along.  And in a way, I guess you were.

Over the last year, you've come so far, amazing us every single day.  You're so incredibly smart - you know all of the alphabet and numbers by site, and can point to letters and numbers and tell us what they are.  You know your colors, and constantly bombard us with factual statements about what color things are, or what an object is.  "Trashcan!"  "Dog!"  "Diaper!"  "Crocs!"  "Mail!"

The terrible twos haven't really hit you in full force, and for that, we are thankful.  You do occasionally melt down, but it's never for long, and you certainly make up for it with all the hugs and snuggles.

If only you could stay our sweet little boy forever.

Today, we plan to celebrate with cupcakes and well-wishes from lots of family and friends who couldn't share your day in person, but definitely do in spirit.  You are loved by so many, Grant.

We love you, Grant Pants, and look forward to many more years of wonderment and fun that little boys bring.

Love,
Mama

PS...  These are shots of you playing with your new toys, but you refused to look at the camera.  Oh well.  Guess you're a Harris after all.  :)

Swinging at the Park

We took Grant to the park on Sunday. He had a great time on the swings!

Grant Says...

I thought I'd put a list of some of the things Grant's been saying lately.  He's talking so much.  Sometimes, he rambles on about something, that neither of us can understand, and will end the whole thing with, "alright".  Like he has so much to say and can't get it out!

He can pretty much try to repeat anything we say, and regularly does.  We have to watch our language around him, for sure!

I'll put the phrase on the left, and the interpretation on the right!

I lub-you! - I love you!
nigh-nigh - night night
painkay - pancakes (this is always said with much gusto!)
fridder - 'frigerator'
Pah-kah - Parker
Coe - Cole
sruck - truck
Gam-pa - Grandpa
I nuh no - I don't know
where you - Where are you?
Der it is! - There it is!
I dee it! - I did it!
Cwismas - Christmas tree or Christmas lights
apple pie - applesauce
Aunt Deba - Aunt Debra
nana - banana

Other things he says with no interpretation required:

cookie
paci
bye-bye
bubbles
milk
doubles (this is a ball-throwing game he plays with Daddy)
let's go
high chair
door
Mama's car
Dada's car
Nonna
yes
no
oatmeal
toot

So behind!

We're so behind in taking pictures.  Probably because the holidays are upon us, and we're equally stressed at work, but I am regretting how few pictures we've taken.  Grant is changing so much - every day.  He's a little boy now; all trace of baby has left him.  Well, except those diapers!  And...  That night paci.  But we're working on both!

We didn't take many pictures over the holiday.  We went to the lake house and had a HUGE Thanksgiving feast with family.  Grant played and played and played.  Here are a few action shots, unfortunately, all I got of the whole holiday!  :(

"Muppins!"

Grant LOVES blueberry muffins.  He gets very excited if you tell him there are muffins for breakfast.  He calls them "muppins".  It's terribly cute.  And boy, can he pack them away - 2 whole muffins this morning, and asking for more!

Happy Halloween!

Grant went as an iguana!  Silly me, thought it was a dinosaur costume until we got it home and actually read the label.  Oops!  Still... cutest iguana ever.

Let's go to that house, Daddy!

Knock Knock!  Is anyone home?

Maybe not...

Maybe this house will have candy...

Yay!  Someone's home!

Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween from Grant and his doting parents!

The Most Exciting Thing About Napa Is....

Apparently, it's all the cool equipment Grant saw on the wine tours.  He yells "IN!" anytime he sees something he wants to see up close and personal, including all cars, trucks, buses, bikes, tractors, golf carts, etc.  If it has wheels, he wants in it.

On The Plane!

Grant wasn't as easily contained this trip vs the trip to Hawaii.  He was antsy and wanted out of his seat.  Even the videos in the headrests of the Virgin planes weren't enough to keep him occupied.  And who's to argue with a screaming toddler on a plane?  He got his way, of course.

Where have we been?

We were on vacation this week in Napa Valley!  It was so beautiful - the weather was perfect, the wine tastings were fun, and the food was delicious!  I have a lot of pictures to share, because Grant was with us the whole time, but it will take a while to go through them all.  For now, here's a little jive-turkey for you.

Another Pumpkin Patch Visit

Well, we visited another pumpkin patch.  This time, it was aaaalllll the way over in Flower Mound.  There were lots of people and lots of pumpkins.  Grant liked the big pumpkins and he loved the cartoon cutouts of Yo Gabba Gabba.  He also got very excited when we saw tractors and trains!

This one's almost as big as me!

Doing the hay maze with Daddy.

I made it!

Of course, we had to sit on the tractor.

Pumpkin pictures!

Ok, I'm done with this!

Hey!  I know all these guys!

I'm in a train!

And now I'm in a tractor!

See ya later!
