Last day of vacation!

These kids were worn out.  We packed up and headed home.  So sad to leave, but we had a great time, and we made some great memories.

Galveston, 2014 - Day 3

On Wednesday, we hung out at the beach club!  Grant had a great time in the kiddie pool, meeting new friends, and playing in the sun.  This kid was made for water.  We sure do need to get him some swimming lessons, pronto.

Ryan hung back at the condo, chilling out in the air conditioning.

The previous night, I had gone out on the beach solo with a flashlight to catch crabs for Grant.  He was dying to see a crab, but during the day, it would never happen.  I ended up catching 8!  They are shockingly easy to catch.  I only had a bucket with a lid, plastic shovel, and a flashlight!  I released all but the biggest crab, and brought him back to the condo for Grant to see.

After swimming at the beach club, Grant and Daddy took the crab to the beach to let him go.  They dug a little hole for him, and then dumped him in.  They took video of him burrowing deeper into the hole.  This crab was ready to be back under ground!

Here are Daddy and Grant coming back from the beach.

Later that night, we went to Gaido's Seafood Restaurant, where we battled the terrible twos threes, and tried to enjoy a delicious dinner.  But, hey, we were making memories, right???  :)

Galveston, 2014 - Day 2

Vacation Day 2 was spent in Galveston. We'd all gotten a little bit too much sun the day before, and decided to take it easy on Tuesday.  We went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium, and Grant loved it.  It really shows that he's maturing and growing, now that he's actually interested in all the animals.  And his favorite cartoon right now is Octonauts, so he's very good at identifying different sea-dwelling animals, pointing out nurse sharks, seals, penguins, and octopus.  He asked me where the jellyfish were, but we actually didn't see any at the aquarium!

Waiting patiently for ice cream.

Galveston, 2014 - Day 1

We really wanted to take a vacation with the kids, as we've not gone anywhere for vacation since 2012, when I was pregnant with Ryan and we went to Napa.  But have you ever traveled with a baby?  All that gear?  The options were limited.  We knew we'd have to drive; no doubt about it, simply due to needing so much stuff.  And we knew we couldn't drive far, with a cranky, rear-facing 13-month old.  So, Galveston it is!  We rented a little condo right on the beach in Point West, just south of Galveston.

It was really nice!  It was a 2-bedroom condo, so Grant had his own bedroom, and the master bedroom closet was big enough for Ryan's pack-n-play, so everyone slept peacefully!  It was really nice to have a kitchen to cook in, and a living room for Grant to play in while watching his beloved cartoons.

The turquoise/blue building to the left of the white building, second floor, was our space.

Our view from the balcony!

The first day, we spent the whole day at the beach!  Grant loved making sand castles with daddy, and playing in the surf.   Ryan loved taking in the scenery, although he'd have been much happier eating sand, I'm sure.

Daddy, taking a break.

Grant was burying his tools in the sand.

Our little setup.

Trip to Southlake Town Center

Last weekend, we went up to Sourhlake Town Center and walked around. The weather was nice, we ate an early dinner, and then stopped for ice cream.

Grant got a new backpack with sharks on it and his name embroidered red. He LOVES it. He keeps telling me that he's got to catch the bus and go to school. Time needs to slow down.

After walking around for a while, we stopped for dinner at Copeland's. Ryan enjoyed the French fries.
